Visa to Establish Residence and RequirementsGeneral Directorate of Migration Services

The visa to establish residence is designed to allow the holder to entry into country in order to apply for a temporary residence permit for:

  1. Exercise of a professional activity;
  2. Family reunification.

A visa for establishing residence is granted to the person concerned who shows the intention of permanent residence in the national territory, have the necessary means of subsistence has secured housing and has no criminal records. The visa is valid for ninety days and allows multiple entries. If the foreigner who apply for a visa to establish residence intends to engage in an occupation will consider these criterias:

  1. The purpose of providing skilled labor for the various sectors the economy, aimed at increasing productivity and assimilationtechnology;
  2. The objective of creating jobs for nationals, focusing on their formation.

IX.Visto de Fixação de Residência / Visa for Residence Stay (VFR)

  1. Exercício de actividade profissional /Professional Activities (VFR1)
    • Documentos de viagem / Travel document
    • Meios de subsistência /Means of support
    • Bilhete de transporte de partida de TN / Return ticket or other means of transportation
    • Declaração alojamento /Declaration of acommodation
    • Documentos justificativos do objectivo ou das condições da estada /Required document of the reasons and condition of stay
    • Documentos comprovativo de habilitações profissionais /Proving document of professinal skill
    • Cópia certificada do registo comércial /Certified copy of Comercial registration
    • Certidão dividas da entidade a qual o estrangeiro esta vinculado /Tax payment certificate of the company
    • Atestado de robustez física e psíquica /Medical Certificate
    • Registo criminal original emitido pelas autoridades competentes do país de origim ou do país onde o estrangeiro resida há mais de um ano /Criminal Record issued by the country of origin or the country where the foreigner has residence more than one year
    • Outros meios de prova (especificar) Other means of prove

    • Bilhete de transporte de partida de TN / Return ticket or other means of transportation
    • Declaração alojamento /Declaration of acommodation
    • Documentos justificativos do objectivo ou das condições da estada /Required document of the reasons and condition of stay
    • Copia certificada pelos serviços consulares do pais de nacionalidade do requerente de documento comprovativo de laços familiares /Certified copy by Consular regarding family relationship document
    • Atestado de robustez física e psíquica /Medical Certificate
    • Registo criminal original emitido pelas autoridades competentes do país de origim ou do país onde o estrangeiro resida há mais de um ano /Criminal Record issued by the country of origin or the country where the foreigner has residence more than one year
