Study VisaCommon Visa Class III

Dili

The Common Visa Class III allows the holder to enter Timor-Leste for the purpose of Study.

Criteria

The applicant must :

  • Demonstrate the purpose of stay, by producing the necessary documents and statements.
  • Demonstrate available income in Timor-Leste to support him/her for period of proposed stay without breaching visa conditions.
  • Demonstrate accommodation arrangements.
  • Hold a return ticket, or show ability to fund own departure.

Applicants must also be assessed as being of good character and health before they will be granted the visa and/or permitted to enter Timor Leste.

Important Notice :

In order to enter and remain in Timor-Leste, each foreigner must have the means to pay an amount equivalent to :

  • One hundred US dollars ($100.00) for each entry;
  • Fifty US dollars ($50.00) for each day expected to remain in the country.

Conditions

The visa may be granted for,

  • Single or multiple entries, and
  • It allows a length of stay up to one (1) year

Please note : The Study Visa Class III cannot be applied for or granted on arrival at a border post.

Abroad
  • Visa application should usually be submitted to a diplomatic mission or consular office in the country of usual residence. (See : details of Embassies and Consulates Abroad).
  • If the applicant resides in a country where there is no Timor-Leste Embassy or Consulate, the visa application should be submitted directly to the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dili, Timor-Leste. (See : Department of Consular Affairs Contact details)
After arrival

Place of Grant

Study Visas Class III may only be granted by Officers of the Department of Consular Affairs in Dili or at Timor Leste missions abroad.

Important Notice :

At the moment the Department of Consular Affairs in Dili and Timor-Leste Embassies/Consulates can only give a visa authorization letter. The visa will be stamped in your passport by Immigration Service staff on arrival on presentation of the letter.
